September 18, 2014 Minutes

Welcome and Pledge of Allegiance
In Attendance- Joel Miller, Susan Archibald, Lance Madigan, Liz Ash,  Brittany Gray,  Amy Grace,  Cathleen Tronson, Amy Sloan, Jodie Harris, Cali Southwick

Voting on March 20, 2014  minutes:
A motion was made by Susan Archibald and seconded by Liz Ash  to approve last meetings minutes.
Nomination and voting for new chair:  As an Alpine School District employee, Susan Archibald can no longer serve as the chair of our Community Council.  It was necessary to nominate and elect a new chair.
Liz Ash nominated Lance Madigan and the nomination was seconded by Brittany Gray.
The voting members voted and it was unanimous in favor of Lance Madigan as Community Council Chair.

Good Things:
*School year started out great and everything went smoothly.
*Double Dosing is under way with 3 math classes and 3 reading classes going at 3 different levels.
*Big thanks to IM Flash Technologies for a donation to our science programs.
*Expanded art program is up and running.  Students are taking advantage of Art and Music classes, funded in part by a grant from the Beverly Sorenson Foundation.
*Gifted and Talented program has started.  Taught by Mrs. Lish and Mrs. Wykstra.

Report on the use of Trust Land Funds
Below is a summary of the goals set in the budget plan and the disbursement of the Trust Land Funds.  Trust Land Funds pay for Double Dosing, Gifted and Talented program, and the music and fine art program in our school.
$33,404.00 is amount given for our use.  The money amount is based on school population.  Three goal areas have been made.
Goal #1-Reading Fluency-
Double Dosing
3 teachers in mornings-$13,645.80
Supplies-$2,000.00
District matches $6,000.00 making our total for this goal $9645.80
Goal #2-Math Fluency
Double dosing in math
Three teachers -$13,645.80
Supplies-$1,614.40
Total-$15,260.20
Goal #3-Gifted and talented program
Morning classes teacher-$6498.00
Supplies for this goal will come from the district funds.
Total-$6498.00
Goal #4 Music and Fine Arts program
Music materials, supplies, and equipment-$2000.00
We have applied for the Beverly Sorensen Grant so a part time music teacher will be paid for with money from grant.
Total Trustland Budget-$33,404.00

Voting and signing of next years plan:
Shara Call made a motion to approve the 2014-2015 School Improvement Plan and this motion was seconded by Lance Madigan.  All voting members signed the plan.

Calendar of upcoming meetings:
Nov. 20th, Jan. 22nd, and March 19th.  Other meetings may be called as needed.  All meetings are held at 3:40 pm in the school conference room.
